Outlines:

Week 1

8th March 2010

* Been told to develop an idea of any project
* The project must be finished in 12 weeks

9th March 2010

* Research of ideas
* Think of what to do
( 2D animation / 3D animation / Websites / PS/Illu / Video / Film )

10th March 2010

* Came up with more than 2 ideas
* Decide what to do = I'm making a STOP MOTION ANIMATION with PLAYDO! : )

Examples:

Oh man I love this one XD
sooo cool!

Great commercial concept!

This on- professional techniques of making a GOOD stop motion animation
but you have to have all the equipment + software in order to achieve this level : (
which I don't have. Grrrrr....

Cool one

This made by Taiwanese Uni media students!
great great work and AWESOME idea!
I was planning to make this, but I realized there is too much work.
and with only ONE person to do the project..it's kinda IMPOSSIBLE to make.
so...I gave up on this idea. O wellz...I can make it next time : )

Yes, you can do any project but try to choose something that you love, that you're particularly passionate about. This project should end up being one of your show-pieces in your portfolio.

Week 2

15th March 2010

* Been thinking of what I should include for my animation
* Came up with my characters and plot
* Ready to design the storyboard : )

will post some of my character drawing pics later...

16th March 2010

* Starts to design my camera shots, positions and everything.
* posting my weekly reviews on to this forum, so I can track my development in works based on what I did weekly.

17th March 2010

*I've already started on my storyboard! Smile
cos I want to finish it ASAP so then I could leave enough time for my 3D assignment...
Grrrrr!

(drawing doesn't bother me....it's the storyline!!!
really hard to think of a effective animation in such short duration!
at the same time while i'm storyboarding...
i am picturing the animation in my head,
thinking how do i make the movements
fluently and deliver the message.)

* I think my animation is going to be around 30-40 secs? Maybe. I think.

(btw, my friend did this pic for my birthday. I LOVE IT! Hehehee)

Character 1

UhmUhm

This is my main character that I'm going to make with playdo.
Well, I try to make it as simple as I can,
cos making each movement in detail is quite hard and VERY time consuming...

so...here we go,
It's name is UhmUhm, and it's a HIM!

Basically I've developed this character with a unique characteristic.
He looks like a bunny..but he is Not.
He only eats vegetables but himself is also a vegetable.
so...I prob wouldn't call him a "vegetarian".

and every time he takes "something" in, his body would grow.
haha, I guess I'll have to think a suitable name for this animation.

These are the VEGE Uhm Uhm eats
Very simple, and easy to make.

Well I think keeping things simple is very important.
it might helps the audience understand better rather than a complex bg and character

well, there isn't much camera angle changing in the animation.
everything is simple and easy to understand.

it's like playing playdo on the stage and perform an animation Smile

i think it will turn out cool.

Doing project without scholarship really sucks. haha!

that means I will have to pull out money from my own pocket.
mehhhh, but it's ok, I think it's worth it doing.

I brought the Rubba Dubba Doo on the 30th March @ Rockdale Big W
because they don't have the colour i want!

Therefor I garbed the Rubba Dubba Doo instead....

HOWEVER!!
I thought it was only for $5 dollars or something..
When I get to pay it, it cost about 14 bux instead of $5!

SPEWING!!! But I paid it anyway...
just to try out different one other than play-doh,
see if it works or not...

and the result:

Rubba Dubba Doo is too LIGHT!
I don't think the weight it contains can hold my character well,
even manking UHM UHM would be a trouble.......

SO! I went to Hurstville Westfiled TOYS R US the next day (31st MARCH)
and brought 7 cups of PLAY-DOH!!

Was $3 a cup. Not too bad.
and totally i spent $21 on the play-doh itself.

IN TOTAL:

14+ 21 = $35 SPENT ON THE CLAY

Week 6:

Friday 16th 2010

Made a appointment with Adrian,
He suggest some methods of how to make a stop motion animation,
and keep a constant speed while the character is moving.

(using ruler, calculate the duration and speed and work out the length character has to move for each frame)

However Adrian says the storyboard is a bit too long,
the work I'll have to cover is way over loaded.

so he suggest me to cut my story shorter.

combined some of the after effect techniques..

took them a year to finish this short film.
very time consuming.
